The resource I wish I had earlier in my leadership journey

Dear Reader,

I don’t talk about this part of my story often, but it feels important to share here.

I bombed my first leadership role.

Not because I didn’t care.
Not because I wasn’t capable.
But because someone saw potential in me and placed me into leadership without real training, support or guidance.

And that happens more than we admit, especially in nonprofit spaces.

You do good work. You show promise.
Then suddenly you are responsible for people, decisions, pressure and outcomes…
without ever being taught what leadership actually requires.

The trainings and language came much later for me.
And honestly, I am still learning in my leadership journey.

That’s one of the reasons I’m grateful to be part of the Lead Well, Live Well Collection, a free bundle of practical resources created to support new and rising leaders as they grow without burning out in the process.

My contribution, the Rising Leader Mindset Toolkit, is designed to help leaders:

• Build confidence while navigating new responsibility
• Manage self-doubt, stress and pressure to perform
• Create sustainable habits that support both leadership and wellbeing

These are tools I truly wish I had when I was starting out.
And while the collection is focused on new or rising leaders, I believe it can support anyone who is carrying the weight of leadership right now.

Access the Lead Well, Live Well Collection. The collection is available through February 11.

I’ll also be joining the host, Jessica Wright, for a LinkedIn Live conversation on Monday, February 9 at 4:00pm CST to talk more about sustainable leadership and the heart behind this resource. It would be great if you could join us.

Leadership was never meant to be carried alone. Support makes a difference.

P.S. Even if you only use one resource inside the collection, it can shift how leadership feels day to day. Access is free through February 11.

Dear Reader, I didn’t expect this. This wasn’t about being perfect. It was about showing up fully,...
