This moment means more than I expected

Dear Reader,

I didn’t expect this.

After everything that came with the Women Thrive Summit, the preparation, the nerves, and the moment of actually showing up and delivering my talk, I was already sitting with a deep sense of gratitude.

And then this happened.

I’ve been nominated for a Women Thrive Speaker Award.

When I saw my name, I paused. Not because I was surprised I did a good job, but because of what it represents.

This wasn’t about being perfect. It was about showing up fully, trusting my voice, and allowing the message to land where it needed to.

And to now be recognized for that feels significant.

I’ve been nominated for: Most Inspirational Speaker

And also for Speaker of the Year.

I’m still taking that in.

If you were in the room, if you watched the replay, or if you have been following my work and something has resonated with you, I would genuinely appreciate your support.

If you want a deeper look into what that experience was like for me, I wrote a reflection that walks through the full journey leading up to the talk and what shifted for me in that moment:

Read the blog post: https://missionenspire.com/ready-enough/

That post is really the fuller story. What it looked like to move forward without feeling completely ready. What it felt like to be in the room. And what I learned about confidence in real time.

If you did not get a chance to watch the session, you can still access it here: http://lp.womenthrivesummit.com/jenniferdmcclain

The awards ceremony is happening on Thursday, April 23rd at 8am CST, and I am looking forward to being part of that moment alongside so many women who are using their voices in meaningful ways.

More than anything, this feels like a reflection of something I talk about often.

Confidence is built through action.

This moment is a result of saying yes, even when I did not feel fully ready.

Thank you for being part of this journey with me.
Jennifer

P.S. If you do take a moment to vote, thank you. I truly appreciate it.

Dear Reader, I don’t talk about this part of my story often, but it feels important to share here. I bombed my first leadership role. Not because I didn’t care. Not because I wasn’t capable. But because someone saw potential in me and placed me into leadership without real training, support or guidance. And that happens more than we admit, especially in nonprofit spaces. You do good work. You show promise. Then suddenly you are responsible for people, decisions, pressure and outcomes…without...
